Clinician - Early Childhood Mental Health and PCIT:

Parent Child Interaction Therapy (PCIT) is an evidence-based parent training treatment for young children with emotional and behavioral disorders that places emphasis on improving the quality of the parent-child relationship and changing parent-child interaction patterns. Sessions consist of live, in-the-moment coaching for adult caregivers as they interact with their child to decrease stress in the parent-child relationship, learn therapeutic parenting skills to promote positive communication, and set appropriate limits.

Applicants not already certified in PCIT will receive training and supervision to obtain certification. After training is complete, applicant would provide weekly family therapy sessions to a caseload of approximately 20 families. This position includes weekly individual supervision and monthly group supervision, both of which count toward licensure requirements.

This is a unique opportunity to become specialized in a specific treatment modality that empowers families through learning concrete therapeutic skills that can lead to quick and positive change for families.

Successful candidates will have experience working with families and young children, display high attention to detail and ability to think on their feet, enjoy working within a structured therapeutic modality, and have excellent communication skills.

Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams supporting children at risk of abuse, neglect, or losing their educational/childcare placement due to extreme behaviors.
  • Provide treatment and care coordination for both PCIT and ECP clients. This may include early evening appointments as needed.
  • Provide on-site consultation to early education providers in their classroom settings.
  • Provide in home and community-based work to children and their families.
  • Develop individualized treatment plans, monitor, and evaluate effectiveness of services.
  • Provide crisis prevention and intervention.

Requirements:

  • Master's degree in social work, counseling, psychology, or mental health field.
  • Experience working with youth with emotional/behavioral challenges.
  • A Clinical License OR on the Roster of Non-Licensed & Noncertified Psychotherapists (See Licensing Requirement Notice below).
  • Valid driver's License and use of a personal vehicle.

Licensing Requirement Notice:

Vermont regulation mandates that if you do not hold a valid license then you must be on the Roster of Nonlicensed & Noncertified Psychotherapists before you can be hired for work in this position. If you are not yet on the Roster, please begin the process immediately to avoid delay in hiring. Note this process may take 3-5 days for in-state applications and up to several weeks for out-of-state applications. Instructions can be found on the website for the Vermont Office of Professional Regulation.

  • Annual salary starting at $54,342.57 (Non-Licensed) $56,728.01 (Licensed), pro-rated for part-time
