Military Outreach Clinician

Military Outreach Clinician:

The Military Outreach Clinician serves as the primary military contact at Howard Center and develops and sustains connection with military/veteran organizations to improve care to the military community. This position will provide assessments and case management to an assigned caseload of veteran and military service member's families with mental health, substance use disorders and/or co-occurring disorders.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and maintain outreach with military and veteran organizations
  • Coordinate and educate with internal and external providers and professionals in other disciplines
  • Provide direct client service including assessment, treatment planning, care coordination, referral, and crisis response
  • Provides clinical consultation
  • Participate in staff meetings, group and individual supervision, case staffing, training, and other program administration
  • Crisis management and response
  • Work may be office, clinic, residential, community or home-based depending on program; position may serve youth and/or adults depending on program

Requirements:

  • Master's degree
  • Clinical license, or license eligible in the state of Vermont
  • 2-3 years of relevant professional work experience
  • Veteran of U.S. military or military service member family with knowledge, skills, and abilities to complete outreach, develop rapport with veteran and active-duty military personnel preferred
  • Knowledge of the VA health system
  • Experience with assessment, diagnosis, crisis intervention and de-escalation, strong written and oral communication, time, and stress management skills are preferred.
  • Experience working with diverse populations including persons affected by mental health issues and substance use disorder
  • Valid driver's license and use of a personal vehicle

Licensing Requirement Notice:

Vermont regulation mandates that if you do not hold a valid license then you must be on the Roster of Nonlicensed & Noncertified Psychotherapists before you can be hired for work in this position. If you are not yet on the Roster, please begin the process immediately to avoid delay in hiring. Note this process may take 3-5 days for in-state applications and up to several weeks for out-of-state applications. Instructions can be found on the website for the Vermont Office of Professional Regulation.

  • Salary starting at $56,728.01
