Military Outreach Liaison

The Military Outreach Liaison serves as the primary military contact at Howard Center and develops and sustains connections with military/veteran organizations to improve care to the military community.

This position will provide care and case management to an assigned caseload of veteran and military service member's families with mental health, substance use disorders and/or co-occurring disorders.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and maintain outreach with military and veteran organizations
  • Coordinate and educate with internal and external providers and professionals in other disciplines
  • Provide direct client service including treatment planning, care coordination, referral, and crisis response
  • Complete documentation in Electronic Health Record and other documentation/record keeping in accordance with Agency requirements
  • Crisis management and response
  • Work may be office, clinic, residential, community or home-based depending on program; position may serve youth and/or adults depending on program

Requirements:

  • Combination of education and relevant experience
  • Veteran of U.S. military or military service member family with knowledge, skills, and abilities to complete outreach, develop rapport with veteran and active-duty military personnel preferred
  • Knowledge of the VA health system
  • Experience with crisis intervention and de-escalation
  • Strong written and oral communication
  • Experience working with diverse populations including persons affected by mental health issues and substance use disorders
  • Valid driver's license and use of a personal vehicle.

Structure:

  • Full time (37.5 hours)
  • Exempt
  • Salary starting at $45,271.38
  • We offer a competitive salary commensurate to experience
