Outreach Specialist - Street Outreach

Street Outreach:

Play an important role in helping people in your community. Join the Street Outreach team where you will provide street-based outreach services to individuals who are experiencing homelessness, mental health crises or substance use concerns. Collaborate with the Burlington Police Department to address social problems. Educate community members to better understand how limited social services impacts our community.

Seeking someone specifically who has a passion and experience with opioid use and addiction to identify, engage, and link individuals at risk of opioid overdose to services in the community.

Responsibilities:

  • Respond to calls for service at the request of the Burlington Police Department (BPD) dispatch or BPD officer
  • Provide immediate triage and outreach intervention in the areas of mental health, substance abuse, and child, youth, and family services
  • Monitor and prevent escalation of symptoms of mental illness and substance abuse within the community
  • Provide interim case management services for individuals before linking them with appropriate community providers

Requirements:

  • Valid driver's license and use of a personal vehicle
  • Four years' combination of experience, skills and/or education
  • Evening and weekend availability
  • Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions
  • Favorable background checks through the Burlington Police Department

  • Full- time
  • Non -Exempt
  • $28.00/ hour
