SUB - Residential Counselor - Adult Mental Health

Provide support services to adults who may have intensive needs who live in Howard Center short term or long-term residences.  This role ensures a safe, healthy, and functional environment while providing direct service to clients.  In this position you could train to work in up to 4 residential/group homes, each one unique in population, structure and shifts. 

Substitute staff cover open shifts due to vacancies and planned/unplanned time off.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop healthy therapeutic relationships with adult residents
  • Work with residents as a positive role model and assist in increasing coping strategies, problem-solving skills and wellness plans
  • Assist with daily living functions, such as meal/menu preparation, household maintenance/organization and personal care
  • Provide support needed for safety in the community and/ or worksites
  • Conduct overall health monitoring and medication administration and/or oversight

Requirements:

  • A combination of experience, skills and/or education in working with adults that experience mental health challenges, substance use disorders and/or intellectual disabilities or Autism Spectrum Disorder, or another human services field
  • Driver's License with acceptable driving record

Structure:

  • Hours vary weekly
  • Starting at $19.73 an hour
