Acute Residential Counselor Adult: Developmental Services

Provide intensive clinical support and therapeutic opportunities in both a residential setting and in the community to individuals with cognitive and mental health challenges.

The residential programs are modeled off a home setting serving 3 clients whose needs are complex and range in intensity.

Responsibilities:

  • Initiate constructive activities that address goals on a client's Individual Support Agreement (treatment plan)
  • Implement the support and crisis plans (utilizing Therapeutic Options training), in collaboration with the greater treatment team.
  • Facilitate community inclusion, daily living, and skill acquisition
  • Utilization of sound judgement and maintenance of clam demeanor during crisis
  • Provide needed behavioral and/or mental health support
  • Provide needed personal and/or medical care

Requirements:

  • Three to four years of experience in a human services or combination of education and experience from which comparable knowledge and skill has been acquired
  • High school degree or equivalent
  • Routine lifting
  • Valid driver's license, and use of a personal vehicle
  • Ability to work either Saturday or Sunday

Structure:

  • Varied schedules including weekend and evening hours
  • Travel within Chittenden County
  • Residential homes located in Burlington, Starksboro, and Hinesburg
  • Non-exempt
  • Union
  • Starting at $21.66 an hour
  • We offer a competitive salary commensurate to experience
  • Ability to work either Saturday or Sunday
