Clinician - Early Childhood Mental Health and PCIT:

The Early Childhood Program offers home-based parenting education, supportive counseling for children and families, consultation, advocacy, and case management. The Program provides training, consultation, and education to caregivers and providers who support young children and families.

Parent Child Interaction Therapy (PCIT) is an evidence-based treatment for young children with behavioral problems that consists of of live, in-the-moment coaching for adult caregivers as they interact with their child to decrease stress in the parent-child relationship, promote positive child behaviors, and set appropriate limits. You will receive a full year of training by a Howard Center PCIT trainer. This includes over 20 hours of foundational training, in-person consultation, and one-on-one support to obtain PCIT certification. Upon certification, clinicians will have additional opportunities to grow their skills through participation in the larger PCIT International network.

This position offers an opportunity to have a mixed caseload of clients from the Early Childhood Program and the PCIT program. Weekly supervision is offered.

Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams supporting children at risk of abuse, neglect, or losing their educational/childcare placement due to extreme behaviors.
  • Provide treatment and care coordination for both PCIT and ECP clients. This may include early evening appointments as needed.
  • Provide on-site consultation to early education providers in their classroom settings.
  • Provide in home and community-based work to children and their families.
  • Develop individualized treatment plans, monitor, and evaluate effectiveness of services.
  • Provide crisis prevention and intervention.

Requirements:

  • Master's degree in social work, counseling, psychology, or mental health field.
  • Experience working with youth with emotional/behavioral challenges.
  • A Clinical License OR on the Roster of Non-Licensed & Noncertified Psychotherapists (See Licensing Requirement Notice below).
  • Valid driver's License and use of a personal vehicle.

Licensing Requirement Notice:

Vermont regulation mandates that if you do not hold a valid license then you must be on the Roster of Nonlicensed & Noncertified Psychotherapists before you can be hired for work in this position. If you are not yet on the Roster, please begin the process immediately to avoid delay in hiring. Note this process may take 3-5 days for in-state applications and up to several weeks for out-of-state applications. Instructions can be found on the website for the Vermont Office of Professional Regulation.

  • Annual salary starting at $54,342.57 (Non-Licensed) $56,728.01 (Licensed), pro-rated for part-time
