Supervisor I - First Call for Chittenden County

Supervisors in the First Call for Chittenden County are responsible for daily operations and clinical oversight of the 24/7 program. The Supervisor I staff provides on-site call center support, onboarding training of new staff, and consultation to any member of the team in addition to supervision to substitute, on-call, and part time staff. 

First Call for Chittenden County responds to mental health emergencies, with the philosophy that the caller defines the crisis. The population served includes youth and adults in Chittenden County, other family members or natural supports, Howard Center staff, medical and mental health care providers, law enforcement, schools and other community partners.

  • Provide direct support to First Call Clinicians
  • Provide program and clinical regular supervision of First Call staff
  • Provide shift coverage as necessary
  • Provide operational support to the program
  • Provide training to Howard Center staff and external partners
  • Facilitate or participate in multi-disciplinary team meetings


  • Master's degree in relevant field
  • On the roster of Non-licensed Non-certified Psychotherapists
  • QMHP within 6 months of hire (agency provides all necessary support to meet this requirement)
  • Able to work outside of normal business hours or flex weekly schedule
  • 1 year relevant work experience
  • Use of a personal vehicle and an acceptable driving record
  • Demonstrated supervisory and/or leadership experience
  • Experience managing crisis situations

Licensing Requirement Notice

Vermont regulation mandates that if you do not hold a valid license then you must be on the Roster of Nonlicensed & Noncertified Psychotherapists before you can be hired for work in this position. If you are not yet on the Roster, please begin the process immediately to avoid delay in hiring. Note this process may take 3-5 days for in-state applications and up to several weeks for out-of-state applications. Instructions can be found on the website for the Vermont Office of Professional Regulation.
