School Food Service Cook-
Jean Garvin School:
Plan and prepare nutritionally balanced meals that meet the
federal programs that provide healthy food to children (National School Lunch
Program, School Breakfast Program, Child and Adult Care Food Program, Summer
Food Service Program, and Fresh Fruit and Vegetable Program). The cook also
interacts with students during meal times, talking with them about food
education.
Responsibilities:
- Prepares food by
following proper food safety and sanitation procedures
- Prepares for
serving meals to customers, cleaning of kitchen and equipment, and washing
dishes, pots, utensils, etc.
- Creates and
prepares menu and other items that reflect both a variety and an
understanding of nutritious meals for kids
- Orders and
purchases supplies, staying within budget
- Engage in
positive, healthy interactions with students
- Attends scheduled
staff/faculty meetings
Requirements:
- High School
diploma or equivalent
- Experience with
food preparation, ordering of food and supplies
- Valid driver's
license and use of a personal vehicle
Structure:
- Part time (20
hours)
- Starting at $21.40 an hour
