Physical/ Health Education Teacher:

Baird School is seeking a licensed Physical/Health Education Teacher to fill an opening for the 2024-2025 school year. Teach multi-aged classrooms of 8 to 10 students and plan large group activities for up to 18 students. Also, coordinate and lead the Outdoor Challenge Program.

The Baird School provides an alternative educational environment for children ages 5-14 (grades K-8) whose needs cannot be met in a regular educational environment due to social, emotional and/or behavioral challenges. Students engage in academic, social, emotional, and behavioral programming to develop skills/strategies that will allow them to succeed in the least restrictive educational environment available to them.

Consider this position if you have a Bachelor's Degree, are a licensed Physical Education Teacher and can safely and effectively implement physical intervention. Qualified candidates will be skilled in the areas of classroom management, differentiated instruction and assisting students with self- regulation. Experience with Recreation Therapy or Project Adventure is desired.

Responsibilities:

- Provide instruction in the area of Physical Education and Health

- Design and adapt curriculum to meet the needs of students

- Assess students' progress and contribute to comprehensive evaluations when necessary

- Assist with Classroom and Planning Room coverage as needed

- Coordinate and lead the Outdoor Challenge Program

Requirements:

- Bachelor's Degree

- Licensed Teacher

- Experience in the areas of classroom management, differentiated instruction and assisting students with self-regulation

- Physical capability to lead Physical Education instruction

- Physical ability to safely and effectively implement physical intervention

Structure:

- Full time (37.5 hours)

- Exempt
