Paraprofessional Educator - Jean Garvin School

Provide additional support to students at the Jean Garvin School. Think out of the box, get creative with curriculum, learn and teach, and collaborate with skilled staff to help students succeed. 

The Jean Garvin School is a small (28 student) Therapeutic Alternative Education program serving students in grades 7 - 12, and is located in Williston, VT. 

Qualified candidates will be dynamic, flexible and energetic team players.  Knowledge and experience in the practice of trauma-informed treatment, and Social Thinking/Cognition Theory will be helpful.  The person hired for this position will enjoy thinking out of the box, getting creative with curriculum, learning and teaching, and collaborating with skilled staff to help students maintain and thrive in the milieu.  Qualified candidates must pass a background check, hold a valid driver's license and have reliable transportation. 


  • Implement academic, behavioral and social programming that addresses the unique needs of each student
  • Understand and respond therapeutically to students while maintaining professional boundaries
  • Coordinate school-based interventions with other treatment approaches


  • Bachelor's Degree
  • Physical capacity to safely and effectively implement physical restraint techniques
  • Have a valid driver's license and an acceptable driving record

  • This position requires travel within Chittenden County
