Internship

Howard Center is proud to offer Internships for students in mental health and developmental fields. Interns are paired with supervisors based on the fit of the student's program needs as well as the type or services the supervisor provides clients. The responsibilities of interns at the Howard Center vary across the agency's client services programs and are designed to provide students seeking to fulfill program/degree requirements with instruction and experience in human services.

Currently, we offering Internships to students seeking to fulfill their institution/program's requirements. Please be sure to include a brief overview of your specific requirements in your cover letter.

Responsibilities:

Depending on program, education level and institution requirements, opportunities could be the following:

  • Participate in documentation/record keeping
  • Provide supportive counseling to clients in individual, group, school, or community settings
  • Provide crisis intervention and stabilization
  • Implement academic, behavioral and social programming that addresses the unique needs of clients
  • Participate in direct service 
  • Observe Howard Center employees implement services to clients

Requirements:

Program requirements are defined by the educational contract with the school that has oversight of the internship. The contract will outline specific goals and objectives for the duration of the internship. Requirements to be outlined include the following:

  • Internship Duration
  • Supervision
  • Clinical Documentation
  • Driving
