Contracted - Summer Thematic Group Facilitator with Lifeguarding Duties:

OPEN TO FULL TIME INCLUSION/BAIRD SCHOOL STAFF ONLY -The Contracted Summer Thematic Group Facilitator is responsible for planning and facilitating daily theme-based activities for the summer camp program, differentiating lesson plans for the groups based on age and ability.

Applicants will identify which of these four positions they are most interested in during the interview:

Position: Outdoor Challenge Facilitator

Lead the campers in activities that push them to take on new challenges. Encourage them to find new ways of feeling successful through trust-building and individual success. Activities in this area should encourage our kids to be physically active through both success in traditional activities and give them the opportunity to build success through the Mastery of new challenges. This position will also be responsible for joint-planning for staff retreat and the first day of camp. Full Value Contracts and the challenge by choice philosophy.

Position: Scientific Exploration Facilitator

Guide the campers in activities that allow them to explore the environment through a scientific lens. Activities should encourage campers to ask question about the world around them and gain new perspectives on nature. Activities should promote campers with problem solving skills and to approach challenges in different capacities.

Position: Environmental Arts Facilitator

Vitalize our campers' imaginations through activities that will bring out their innate creativity. Activities should open an avenue for self-expression and offer an opportunity to gain new perspective of the outside world through exploration or with an artistic flare. Fostering our campers' goals will bring them confidence in their own Independence.

Position: Service Learning Facilitator

Sponsor our campers' own Generosity by championing the satisfaction of giving. Lead our campers in activities that develop feelings of pride in our student when they give back to others. Activities in this area should instill the intrinsic value of altruism by giving them the chance to behold the impact of their own virtue.

Essential Functions:

  • Plan and facilitate, and risk manage daily, theme-based group activities
  • Responsible for Water Safety in their group (lifeguarding)
  • Obtain needed supplies/equipment, working within budget
  • Assist in the overall supervision of clients; determines if daily activity is engaging the clients and adjusts as needed
  • Communicate and collaborate with Group Leaders; chooses which group members to delegate tasks to
  • Trains other employees
  • Assist with the maintenance and cleaning of program site
  • Participate in weekly group supervision
  • Works with Program Supervisor to purchase access to activities for clients. Uses agency credit card, uses petty cash, and reimbursement.

Requirements:

  • Valid driver's license and use of a personal vehicle
  • CPR/FA certification
  • Red Cross Life Guarding
  • Therapeutic Crisis Intervention certification
  • Full-time employment in HC Program
