Community Mental Health Ambassador

The Community Mental Health Ambassador is responsible for implementation and coordination of the Mental Health Outreach for Mothers (MOMS) Partnership program, created by Yale University. 

MOMS program brings mental health services within reach for over-burdened, under-resourced mothers. This position is part of a team of community outreach workers, conducting structured interviews (via telephone, in person, and web-based), co-facilitating groups, and engaging community members and stakeholders.

Responsibilities:

  • Conduct outreach and recruit, screen, and enroll potential participants
  • Administer the program's Goals and Needs Assessments and complete periodic assessments with participants
  • Co-facilitate groups and deliver coaching intervention as applicable
  • Collaborate with staff of community hub sites ensuring effective client service delivery
  • Participate in the local MOMS Guide Team to advise on implementation efforts, operations and refinement of the MOMS program
  • Engage with Yale University for training, technical assistance, and impact evaluation that Yale provides/conducts

Requirements:

  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • Valid driver's license and access to transportation
  • 2 years of related work experience

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Associates Degree or Bachelor's Degree
  • Per funding requirements, a mother that resides in the local area with the ability to relate to program participants on the basis of shared lived experience is preferred
  • Experience working with low-income mothers in the local area around mental health needs
  • Community outreach/engagement experience in the local area, including recruitment or development

Structure:

  • This is part time, 20 hours per week
  • This is a union position
