Acute Residential Counselor Adult - ASSIST/Act 1/Bridge Floater:

Provide services to clients in psychiatric and/or alcohol/substance abuse crisis in short term residential programs. Tasks include providing supportive counseling, assessing level of risk, mental status and/or substance-related withdrawal symptoms, and supporting clients in their process of stabilization from acute crisis. The position will work across crisis stabilization programs, including ACT1 (public inebriate program), BRIDGE (detox), and ASSIST (mental health crisis) with potential to expand to other programs if needed. This position is a float or flexible position to be scheduled for day, evening and overnight shifts with 2 consecutive days off, and some weekend commitment.

Responsibilities:

  • Complete admissions and discharge protocols, including completing comprehensive intake assessment, safety planning, and developing individualized treatment plans for short-term treatment.
  • Provide supportive counseling throughout the stabilization process through individual and group interventions. Work with clients to develop coping strategies, explore motivation towards greater stability, and improve problem solving skills.
  • Administer medication consistent with medication delegation training which includes monitoring, administering and documenting client medications.
  • Follow detoxification protocols (CIWA, CINA, Vital Signs), and supervise intoxicated individuals until sober (determined by BAC).
  • Case coordination which includes communicating with providers and support systems, working with clients to make a comprehensive aftercare plan and making referrals when appropriate.
  • Maintain clinical records in order to ensure that all regulatory and program requirements are met. Complete insurance authorizations as needed.
  • Maintain program facilities, including vacuuming, helping with laundry, making dinner, preparing client rooms with the goal of providing a clean, well-cared for and home-like environment.

Requirements:

  • One year of experience in the social service field
  • Valid driver's License and use of a personal vehicle
  • Ability to work after hours, holidays, and overnight shifts, flexibility in willingness to cover urgent/emergency coverage shifts and call-outs

  • Full-time (40 hours)
