Acute Residential Counselor Adult - Seventy Two:

The Acute Residential Counselor Adult position provides support services to adults who have intensive needs that live in Howard Center short term or long-term residences and/or crisis programs. This role ensures a safe, healthy, and functional environment while providing direct service to adult clients. This role also provides guidance and assistance in order to help clients meet their individual goals.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide supportive counseling, medication management, and crisis intervention, as needed
  • Help residents strengthen coping and symptom management skills
  • Help maintain the overall functioning and cleanliness of the house
  • Work with residents on modeling home life and independent living skills
  • Maintain the safety of the house by monitoring who is coming and going
  • Use sound independent judgement when responding to a crisis

Requirements:

  • A combination of skills, experience and/or education
  • Valid driver's license and use of a personal vehicle
  • Ability to work in a team environment and maintain respectful relationships is essential
  • Ability to demonstrate competence with adults experiencing emotional challenges

Structure:

  • Part time, 7.5 hrs
  • AFSCME Union
  • Non-exempt
  • Starting at $21.66 an hour
