Residential Counselor - Shelter Plus

Shelter Plus is a co-ed, transitional housing program in Burlington with the capacity to support up to 6 adults with mental health challenges.  This is a single-staffed program. 

Responsibilities:

  • Help residents strengthen independent living skills through milieu-based and community-based activities
  • Facilitate therapeutic and recreational groups
  • Plan/participate in weekly house meal
  • Provide supportive counseling, medication management, and crisis intervention, as needed 
  • Help clients strengthen coping and symptom management skills 

Requirements:

  • Must have the ability to exercise sound judgement and be compassionate and respectful 
  • Bachelor's degree 
  • Valid drivers license and transportation

Desired:

  • Human services experience preferred

Structure:

  • Full-time
  • Non-exempt
  • The schedule for this position is: Wed 12pm to Thurs 8am (asleep overnight), Thurs 1pm-11pm & Fri 1pm-11pm
  • This is a union position
  • $16.00 hourly rate
