Director of Facilities

Howard Center is recruiting for a Director of Facilities to provide operational oversight to the Facilities departments which manages more than 60 owned and leased office buildings including residential homes and schools.  The Facilities Director is responsible for the safe and efficient operations of all agency locations managing daily operations, planning, overseeing projects, and managing operating and capital expense.   The Director ensures all regulatory standards are met including OSHA, CARF, HUD, AHERA, state and local regulations, and state residential and program licensing.


  • Direct all aspects of facilities operations
  • Select and negotiate agreements with service providers
  • Develop operating metrics and standards for all facilities
  • Ensure training, compliance and communication regarding Federal, State and local laws
  • Ensures that all buildings, grounds, and equipment are safe, secure, well maintained and in optimal working condition


  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Facilities Management or related field or equivalent years of work experience
  • Minimum of 8 years relevant senior level office services and facilities management experience in a large facility, to include 6 years supervisory experience
  • Strong general knowledge of the principles and practices of commercial building construction, renovation, purchasing, and facilities management.
  • Working knowledge of laws, regulations and requirements pertaining to building codes, licensing, permits, engineering, trades, local utilities, insurance, safety, security, OSHA, etc.
