Data Analyst

The Data Analyst is a critical role within the IT department and will be taking lead on new projects, function independently within a fast-paced environment and work on several project and tasks at once. Research, develop, design, and operationalize analytical programs to evaluate Agency for operational and strategic areas.  This role will be responsible for providing analytical support to leadership, specifically with use of data to drive agency decisions. Assignments will include data analysis projects that can be multi-disciplinary or interdepartmental. Effectively communicating issues and results is critical to being successful in this position.

Responsibilities:

  • Individual contributor with inquisitive mind including independent investigation and discovery
  • Excellent communication skills at all levels of the organization
  • Technical strength with keen ability to find and gather the data, validate the quality, and independently develop data sets and sources (internal and external) that are current, maintainable, and accessible for others
  • Interpret data and present patterns, abnormalities and analyses to agency leadership and decision makers

Minimum Qualifications:

  • BS/BA or equivalent required and advanced education/training in data programming and/or statistics 
  • Master's degree in statistical related fields preferred
  • 3-5 years of related experience; including at least 1 year of healthcare data analysis, preferably with behavioral experience
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills (advanced formulas, data matching, Pivot tables, and Pivot charts). Proficient user of Microsoft Access, Word, and PowerPoint is required
  • Experience with relational and/or non-relational databases and performing data queries using SQL
  • Experience with data mining software tools (e.g. SAS, SQL, Business Objects, Cognos or similar)
  • Experience with data analysis and reporting, and working knowledge of data visualization software (e.g., Tableau) is preferred
